Aaah sweet people, we’ve made it through another summer in San Francisco. As the fog sneaks back out to sea, and the light shifts in the evenings making for stunning sunsets, I get a little spark of gratitude inside.
Something in me slows down a notch, starts to take inventory of my surroundings, and realizes Yikes, My Body Needs a Break!
Most of the year I can hang with the rest of you; juggling work, family, friends, dinner parties, fast lunches, lattes, and less than optimal sleep. But twice a year I make a huge effort to pat my liver lovingly, cancel social obligations, throw on an apron, cook some healthy recipes, lose a few pounds and reconnect to the joy inside of me.
In this space, before the excess of the holidays, family demands, overconsumption, and rich foods and wines… I like to pause. Give the internal organs a break. Clean out the closets. Put my racing mind to rest. Do as little as possible. And always, as the toxins make their way out of my body, re-emerge with a clearer mind, a lighter body, and a renewed sense of purpose to better serve you all.
