“Thanks to Mama Lounge— I’M A BELIEVER!!!! I started seeing Amy after we had been trying to get pregnant for over a year. FOUR months into treatment I learned I was pregnant for the first time ever! Not an easy feat considering I am 41 years old. We are expecting a baby girl this coming March and I am constantly joking to people that it is Amy who “got me pregnant” not my fiancé.”
“Amy and Anne are phenomenal at what they do. Through acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and belly massages from Lisa Souza (the BEST massage therapist EVER), we were able to get my cycle back on track and I’m now 36 weeks pregnant!”
“Amy did something during our first appointment that I have never experienced with Western doctors–she listened. Really truly listened. Of course, I sobbed with relief and there have been many tears shed at Mama Lounge since but also a ton of laughs, jokes, and wonderful advice.”

Moxa is a plant that is used as a heat source to stimulate acupuncture points. We frequently use Moxa for Breech and Moxa to Stop Irregular Uterine Bleeding.
The moxa brings deep penetrating warmth to areas of chronic and acute pain & poor circulation. It can relieve digestive and menstrual cramping, and can also raise the metabolic floor. It is often seen used in the form of a moxa stick that has been compressed into a cigar-like roll. Click here for moxa instructions.
This is a series of 5 visits scheduled between weeks 35-40. Women who receive consistent pregnancy acupuncture, most important in the last month of pregnancy, have labors that start on time! This treatment prevents medical induction and the host of complications that occur when labor is brought on artificially. Pre-Birth Acupuncture has been found to reduce average labor time, decrease the need for intervention, and affect cortisol levels of your baby making it easier for baby to sleep through the night.
This is a series of 4 visits scheduled once a woman is full term or 40 weeks. Under very rare circumstances it may be performed earlier with the consent of an OB/GYN. Acupuncture needles are used to promote the hormones of labor, open the cervix, relax the muscles of the pelvis, and initiate the hormonal cascade of birth. Women who have received Birth Preparation Acupuncture in the third trimester respond more quickly to (and often don’t even need) natural induction treatments. We strongly encourage starting acupuncture at week 35 if you’re looking to avoid interventions.
For some women breastfeeding comes easily, and for others it can be very stressful. According to Chinese Medicine insufficient lactation has two main categories. Both respond well to acupuncture and herbal medicine. If preserving the breastfeeding relationship is important to you and you’re struggling, please give us a call! We have lots of good tips and resources for increasing low supply, freeing blocked ducts, and treating mastitis naturally.
Cupping is the use of small glass cups that are applied using suction. This increases blood flow to a very localized area and alerts the body to release toxins and free up pain triggers. It is immediately effective and patients often exclaim that they feel like they’ve had a deep tissue massage. It can leave circular marks on the skin that take a few days to disappear, but the benefits far outweigh the temporary cosmetic inconvenience!
