About Amy Gordon, M.S., L.Ac. FABORM
Amy started Mama Lounge clinic when she was pregnant, and the creative impulse was almost impossible to ignore. During this time she found a huge gap in the medical field calling for a comprehensive natural medicine clinic rallying around women who choose healthy herbal remedies and aim for a natural birth. She was also amazed at how little was done to prepare the mother (or parents) for the truly sacred and hugely disruptive shift into parenthood and the postpartum period.
After months of incredible customized care from her San Francisco acupuncturist, and her team of rock-star midwives, she experienced a relaxed and uncomplicated first birth at home with her husband on hand to catch the baby. Since that transforming moment, she has been dedicated to helping ease women gracefully and bravely into the powerful miracle of motherhood. Her focus is simplicity, wellness, and how do we work together to create happy people in the world raising happy children in the world?
What choices can we make from the very first thoughts of conception that will keep us connected to our partner, strong in our bodies, nurturing to ourselves, and able to bring our children into a peaceful and loving environment?
She received a Bachelor of Science from Penn State University, then went on to receive a four-year Masters Degree from San Francisco’s American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. After completing a three-year internship under the guidance of women’s health specialists in the fields of fertility and gynecology, she has developed an integrated and holistic approach to women’s health. As her practice has expanded through the years, she has refined this interest in helping women, their partners, and new parents coping with a wide range of disorders, endocrine imbalances and stress management. Amy has studied under renowned midwife, Raven Lang, international pregnancy specialist, Debra Betts, and is a member of the NorCalFertility Group and a Fellow of the American Board of Reproductive Medicine.
Current specialties include male and female fertility, sexual health, pregnancy & childbirth preparation, postpartum, insomnia, anxiety, back pain, digestive disorders, food intolerance, regulation of the menstrual cycle, relieve symptoms of PMS, balance moods, shrink fibroids and ovarian cysts, mitigate the side effects of pharmaceutical meds, help people to come off medication, and in general learn to be at peace in the body. In her off time she can be found at home on her farm in Petaluma, practicing kundalini yoga, and learning the true meaning of fertility, balance & patience from her garden, her husband, her two boys, and their animals.
“My husband is skeptical of everything natural and he is a believer after witnessing changes in my health as a result of acupuncture. I first sought treatment last year when a long sinus infection would not clear. Amy completely cleared my congestion with acupuncture and herbs and showed me that what I thought to be a healthy diet was negatively impacting my energy level. I remembered being shocked at the initial intake appointment with how thorough Amy was. No doctor had ever sought to find out so much about me.
When some issues arose this winter with my second pregnancy I returned to Amy to focus on preparing my body for a vaginal birth. My son arrived 4 weeks ago after a successful VBAC! I firmly believe I would not have had the delivery I was hoping for without Amy and the treatments she provided. I highly recommend Mama Lounge!” – Carin H.
