What We Do
PREGNANCY
Pre-Birth Acupuncture has been found to reduce mean labor time, decrease the need for intervention, and affect the sleep cycles and cortisol levels of your baby. The good work you do now to rest, honor your needs, and address any emotions and fears surrounding the birth will pay off in dividends later. We are only just beginning to understand how our choices and the environment a child is exposed to before birth sets the genetic markers for the rest of his/her life.
WOMEN’S HEALTH
At the heart of women’s heath is balancing hormones which rise and fall cyclically. Hormones change at various life stages and more consistently and predictably from month to month during the fertile years. To treat these we frequently employ acupuncture, consistent herb usage to mimic a healthy cycle, and often times electric stimulation incorporated with the acupuncture.
FERTILITY
This is a huge area for Chinese Medicine that has slowly been adopted by the mainstream. Natural pregnancies, IUI, and IVF treatments all have specific acupuncture protocols. The experienced practitioner will make adjustments for each unique woman’s constitution, but a diligent combination of acupuncture and herbs has been proven to increase pregnancy rates.
POSTPARTUM
Not to be neglected either is the good 12-16 months following birth when a woman is postpartum. Balancing emotions, hair loss, fatigue, stress and rebuilding the energy is paramount to the health of mom, baby and whole family. Can also lead to secondary infertility if not treated properly.
SLEEP, STRESS & ANXIETY
Insomnia, restlessness, nightmares, difficulty falling and/or staying asleep, anxiety, palpitations, depression, emotions, withdrawal from medications and drugs. In modern times we are overstimulated making it difficult to relax at night, hard to get going in the morning, afternoon dips in energy and poor sleep. Activities such as acupuncture and meditation allow the body to dip below this layer of chatter and stimulation and achieve deep, restful healing sleep and restorative energy.
DIGESTION & NUTRITION
Gas, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, reflux, candida, Crohn’s irritable bowel and Celiac’s. The Chinese refer to this as balancing your earth. The digestion is at the center of all energy fluctuations in the body. All food is medicine and nothing can be more rewarding and advantageous to one’s physical and mental health than developing a balanced and sustainable relationship to the food we eat.
